Introduction

Elden Ring hits you right away with how tough it is, like you're thrown into this huge world full of enemies that don't mess around and barely any hints on what to do next. I remember starting out and feeling totally lost, but after a bit it clicks that the game wants you to figure things out yourself, not just follow some path. This is kind of my take on getting through the beginning, stuff that helped me not die every five minutes.

Choosing a Starting Class

Picking a starting class matters for how your first hours go, even if it doesn't lock you in forever. • The Vagabond seems like a solid choice for someone new, with good armor and health so you can take a few hits while learning. • Or the Samurai, that one has a bow and katana which lets you mix ranged attacks with close up fighting, I think that's easier when you're still getting the hang of things. • If magic sounds fun, Astrologer works but it might be trickier up close. Anyway, sticking with Vagabond or Samurai probably keeps you alive longer at the start.

Early Game Lesson: Avoid Tough Enemies

Right from the tutorial area, you see this golden knight on a horse called the Tree Sentinel, and its way too strong to fight early on. • Most people say just run past it, explore around instead of charging in. That's one big lesson, don't try to kill every enemy you spot, especially when they look scary. It feels tempting but you'll waste time dying over and over. Better to sneak by or avoid them until you're tougher.

Sites of Grace

Sites of Grace are these glowing spots you find everywhere, and they're super important. • When you rest at one, your health comes back • You can level up if you have runes • Its how you fast travel later Always touch them when you see the light, they kind of save your progress in this big open map. Without them, you'd be respawning way back and losing stuff.

Leveling Up and Stats

Leveling up happens at those sites with someone named Melina, she shows up early and helps with that. • Vigor is the one to pump first because it boosts your health, get it to twenty or twenty five quick. • Endurance helps with stamina and carrying gear without slowing down. • Then strength or dexterity depending on your weapon, but don't spread too thin at the start. I might be oversimplifying, but focusing on surviving feels right before going all in on damage.

Combat Basics

Combat takes practice, its not just mashing buttons. • Rolling to dodge is key, time it so you go through the attack instead of just backing away, that way you end up behind the enemy sometimes. • Shields block hits but they eat stamina, and if it runs out you're wide open. • Every swing or roll uses stamina, so don't let the bar empty or you cant escape. • Locking on to foes helps keep track, especially in one on one stuff.

Exploration in Limgrave

Exploring Limgrave, the starting area, pays off more than just grinding fights. • You stumble on new weapons • Armor • Maybe some stones to upgrade things Theres hidden spots and dungeons that give good rewards without much risk if you're careful. The game pushes you to wander around, not rush the story right away, and that part stands out because other games make you follow lines more strictly.

Weapon Upgrades

Upgrading your weapon early makes a huge difference, more than extra levels sometimes. You meet this blacksmith Hewg in a church area, give him smithing stones and he levels it up. • A weapon at plus three hits harder than before Helps against tougher enemies without needing to level as much. It seems like beginners miss that and just keep leveling the character.

Spirit Ashes

Spirit Ashes are these summon things for bosses. • You call in wolves or whatever to distract and damage them • Lone Wolf Ashes are easy to get early and they give you space to breathe • Later you can upgrade the ashes too, makes them last longer in fights Without them, soloing feels way harder.

Boss Strategy

For bosses, the first try is just to watch their moves. • Don't attack much or you'll die fast • Look for when they pause after swinging, that's your chance to hit back • Don't roll in panic, wait for the right moment • Healing only when they're turned away or far • Use those summons to split attention Some bosses have patterns that repeat, learning them takes a few deaths but it gets better.

Runes Management

Runes are what you collect for leveling or buying stuff, but when you die they drop where you fell. • If you have a bunch, head back to a site of grace and spend them before trying something risky Getting greedy leads to losing hours of progress, that's the worst.

Equipment Load

Your armor weight changes how you roll. • Light load is fast but maybe not enough protection • Heavy slows you down a lot which is dangerous • Medium load feels balanced, quick enough to dodge but sturdy Check that in your menu so you're not lumbering around

NPC Interaction

Talk to NPCs you find, they give quests or items, and sometimes new lines if you come back. • Melina is one who lets you level and explains some story bits Ignoring them means missing out on easier ways forward.

When You Get Stuck

When a boss or area feels stuck, just leave. • Go explore somewhere else • Level up • Find better gear • Then return The world lets you do that, its not all straight ahead, more like circling around until you're ready. That part gets a bit messy to explain, but it works.

Conclusion

Overall, the game rewards patience more than anything, deaths teach you patterns and where to explore next. Keep upgrading weapons, summon help, and don't force fights you're not set for. It starts rough in Limgrave but gets satisfying once things click, sort of.
